Norwegian Getaway

the Norwegian Getaway in October and truly enjoyed the ship. I am a NCL fan so that is no surprise!
This ship is ALL Miami, and that’s exactly what Norwegian Cruise Line was going for when they built it. The hull’s art is designed by Miami artist David “LEBO” Le Batard. The painting features a mermaid and pelicans and colors of the sea. In true NCL fashion you cannot miss this ship out on the ocean!

Inside, the overall color palate features bright purples and turquoises with browns and silvers. Even the public spaces feel like Miami. You can grab a cocktail at the Sugarcane Mojito Bar and eat rice and beans and other Latin-inspired cuisine at the Flamingo Grill. I cannot forget….Margaritaville…there is a fee but the portions are HUGE!

NCL Getaway entertainment options are endless with 28 restaurants, more than a dozen bars, Broadway-caliber theater and a large sports complex that boasts a ropes course, climbing wall and zip line. We traveled with a group of families with children whose ages ranged from 5 to 14 and it was a hit! Bored they were NOT!

Just to name a few options for adults…Howl at the Moon, Ice Bar, Illusionarium or take in a comedy show at Headliners, and then up the stairs to try your luck in the Casino. The Wine Lovers Musical is lots of FUN! It must be pre booked and comes with lunch!

Good luck trying to do it all!

A vacation on Getaway requires planning ahead to get seats in the venues that you want and if you plan on dining at any of the specialty restaurants. I highly recommend it. Standby is available but may not be easy to get into.

The Getaway is a perfect option for passengers who consider the ship to be the destination. Options for entertainment are plentiful, and outdoor spaces work in harmony with the Miami theme and Caribbean sunshine.
